Principal Anita HunterWelcome to the opening of what promises to be a wonderful 2019-2020 school year at R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy! At this time of year, there is great anticipation of what is to come. I am excited to serve as your new principal at R. E. Davis CPA for grades Pre-K through 8th. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you and your child, as well as this wonderful community.

Mrs. Michelle McBride and I had the honor of serving as co-principals for the inaugural year of R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy. It was a privilege to work side by side with Mrs. McBride to merge Mayewood Middle and R.E. Davis Elementary. We thank Mrs. McBride for all her hard work and dedication to the R. E. Davis School and community. We wish her well in her new assignment as principal of Pocalla Springs Elementary School.

As your new principal, it is my mission to serve, encourage and strive for continual excellence just as I have at my previous assignments. I have served as principal at Mayewood Middle  School for three years and assistant principal at Alice Drive Elementary, Alice Drive Middle, Crosswell Elementary and Millwood Elementary schools.

I look forward to meeting everyone during orientation on August 16 at 9:00-10:00 AM for  grades 1st through 5th; 10:00-11:00 AM for grades 6th through 8th. The orientation will be held in the gymnasium. Parents will have the opportunity to meet the faculty and staff, complete emergency contact information forms, and sign up for Parent Portal. School administrators will also review some school procedures and district policies.

Your support as your child enters the classroom, learns, and grows throughout the year will be appreciated, and developing a strong partnership with you to aid in the success of your child’s education is imperative.

Every year we encourage our parents to volunteer at the school. There are many tasks that volunteers can perform.  If you are interested in helping, please call the school and ask to speak  to Mrs. Jessirita Scriven, our parent facilitator. Please make plans to support our PTA. Membership is $5.00, and there will be a table set up at orientation in the gymnasium.

The faculty and staff are busy preparing for the students to arrive Tuesday, August 20 for the first day of school, which is a full day. School promptly starts at 7:45 AM and ends at 2:45 PM. The buses will run their routes starting August 20. We ask you to please have your child at the bus stop 10-15 minutes earlier than the listed pick-up time. Car riders should arrive no earlier than 7:10 AM and should be dropped off and picked up at the front of the school. The first day of school for all prekindergarten is August 26.

R.E. Davis students are expected to participate in our school’s uniform policy, which consists of khaki or navy blue pants or skirt/skort and a red, white, light blue or navy polo shirt. Students wear Viking Attire Monday – Thursday. On Fridays, students will be able to wear clothing of their choice that follows the district dress code policy.
