AVID: Advancement Via Individual Determination

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college- and career-readiness program designed to prepare students for success in middle school, high school, and beyond. AVID supports students by teaching the skills, strategies, and mindsets needed to excel academically and reach their long-term goals.

At REDCPA, AVID empowers students to become independent, confident learners through:

  • Structured academic support in writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading (WICOR strategies).

  • College and career awareness, including exposure to postsecondary pathways and future planning.

  • Focused skill-building, such as note-taking, critical thinking, goal setting, and time management.

  • Student-centered learning environments that promote leadership, responsibility, and perseverance.

AVID is designed for students who are determined to challenge themselves, strengthen their academic habits, and prepare for rigorous coursework. Through AVID, students develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive in school and achieve success in college, careers, and life.
